newborn

As a woman, you’ve gone through pregnancy, labor and delivery, and now you’re all set and ready to begin your life with your newborn. The first few weeks with your newborn might felt like a whirlwind as you are still recovering from childbirth. Usually this newborn phase of your baby will last for the first two months of your baby’s life.

However, every new mom and dad would need some help regarding their newborns and here’s everything you need to know about your newborn’s sleep, breastfeeding routine, crying, and more that would help you to get through those first few weeks with a new baby.

  • Do not expect smiles and coos for first few weeks

It’s funny to say this but initial few weeks it’s like you’re working for a boss who only complains and doesn’t reward you for your efforts! Don’t feel that your efforts in making your newborn happy are lost. He would feel comforted by his/her mother and father and after few weeks when your newborn is adjusted to the environment you would finally be rewarded with all the beautiful smiles and coos

  • Soft spot in the skull needs some soft and smooth handling

The fontanel, also referred to as an opening in the skull allows the baby to manoeuvre out of the birth canal. Some parents might be afraid to touch or comb over the soft spot but there is no need to worry about that. It’s completely okay to touch or feel the soft spot. However, the parents must be careful while handling the soft spot and should not put any sort of pressure on it

  • Give your newborns sponge bath

Usually newborn care includes handling the umbilical cord. Giving sponge baths keeps the umbilical cord of your newborns dry which helps it to fall off faster usually within 2-3 weeks. Even as the babies do not get very dirty, it is completely okay to just give gentle sponge baths.

  • Your newborns will let you know when they are hungry

Everyone feel hungry every now and then. In the same way the baby needs to eat every two-three hours. If your newborn is hungry they will let you know by showing signs like putting hands on mouth, clenched hands, puckering or lip licks. More often the late sign of hunger shown by your newborn is crying.

  • Crying is a way of communication to them

Normally crying is a newborn’s first verbal communication. Your newborn expresses distress or urgency inform of wails. Your newborn might generally cry to tell you something is wrong like a wet bottom, an empty belly, being tired or having a cold feet. But sometimes infants usually cry when they feel overwhelmed by all the sounds and sights of their surrounding environment.

CONCLUSION

Many of the new mother’s would experience stress, tiredness and loneliness. But don’t give up because those days are hard and soon you would feel these stages fleeting. All I want to say is just enjoy every little moment to the fullest
